Time Changes Everything
Time honestly changes things. Last week sometime, my professor had shown us a picture of school children. The first thing I could think about after looking at it for a short time was how fast things have changed. The children were patiently waiting to get on the bus. While in class my professor told us to look deeper than what the picture is showing. She stated to look at the picture with more of an imagination rather than what the purpose of the picture actually was. So as I was sitting there all I could think about was that how much has changed compared today. For example, all the children had these extra metal lunch boxes. There was not one child that did not own one back then. Back in the day it wasn't the schools job to make sure the children were fed like it is for schools today. Another thing that caught my attention was the fact that the children actually dressed up professional for school. In today's day and age most kids go to class with wearing pretty much nothing or rolling out of bed and coming to school as is. This really caught my attention. I believe that elementary school and middle school have really came a long way in time. I feel today these schools are more of babysitters so that parents can go to work. Is it not crazy how fast time can change everything? A lot of things definitely stood out to me. Who were the men in the front and back of the line of students? They seem like they could be making sure the students were getting on the bus safe. Time can do just about anything. Time can heal and time can change. School systems have definitely changed since back then. In most cases I think it for the worst. Sometimes I feel like we are in school so our parents could make a living without worrying about us. These school system needs CHANGE.

The points you talked about were actually true. Why is the school system constantly changing? Most kids today do not even care much about how they look when coming to school, just as long as they get there like you said. School is like a babysitting place because they are required to be there for so many hours each day not learning much useful information. A interesting point you made is that the school system is changing for the worst. I believe this is because the teachers are there to just get paid and that they truly dont love what they are doing. Many schools limit creativity and just focus on the new common core standards that seem boring and repetitive. How is America going to fix this destruction problem in our own schools?
ReplyDeleteCORRINA,
ReplyDeleteWhen I first looked at the picture in class I seen the properly dressed students all with their lunch boxes, but never really thought of how much things have changed compared to now. You are completely right though that things have changed and changed very quickly.
In the middle of your blog, you pretty much answered one of Brittani's questions on her blog about if school just is taking up time. Though both of you agree that school is there just to take up time I have to respectfully disagree. Do I think the school system is perfect? No, I believe there should be more individualized learning and schools realize this and are trying to make this happen, but money is a big factor of why they can't. Individualized learning requires more teachers and more resources and frankly more money which schools just don't have. School is there to mold students into intelligent adults and that is exactly what teachers are doing. It is not a waste of time to learn how to add 5+5, how to read this blog, how to write your name, or even how to tie your shoes. Valuable lessons are learned through school and without schooling children would be lost.
On a lighter note, I agree that it is crazy how schools and in generally everything is changing so fast. Everything seems to change in the blink of an eye.
At the end of your blog you express your feelings of how schools are changing for the worst and that schools need to make a positive change. I again have to respectfully disagree. Schools are doing the best with what they have. Budget cuts are forcing schools to make changes that they wish they didn't have to. Schools are always taking in account what is most important to the students education.
Overall, I really liked reading your blog. It was very engaging and interesting. :)
